General info
Tuscany is situated within the heart of Italy. The region borders in the North with Liguria and Emilia-Romagna,
in the East with Umbria and Le Marche, in the South with Lazio and in the West with the Mediterranean Sea.
The name of the region has its origins in the Etruscan times. The Etruscans called this region Etruria, meaning Tuscia in Roman. The Romans finally renamed the area Tuscania, which in the end came to be Toscana in Italian – and that is all the history we are going to describe, the rest (and there is a lot of it) can be found in countless books and websites.

As you are making the effort to come all the way out to Italy for our
wedding, you might want to consider spending a few more days in Tuscany.
There is so much to see and do (coastline, cities, wine tours, shopping
or even nothing at all) that we strongly recommend spending some time exploring,
especially as June is a great time to visit.
We have a special section dedicated to Florence , as it is the city closest to our wedding, however there are other places in Tuscany that you should consider visiting if possible. These include: Siena, Lucca, Pisa, the Chianti region, Arezzo, the Maremma area and the islands (e.g. Elba).
A great way of doing this is by renting out villas or apartments – many are on working farms (agriturismo)
and most offer pools, great local food and produce (oil and wine being part of the staple diet) and classic Tuscan views.
Below we have listed some accommodation websites you might find useful when organising a Tuscan holiday.
Of course, there are lots of other options, but these are websites we have used or have heard good reports
from and, more importantly, cater to a variety of budgets.
